FLORES E ERVAS! A heavy single marks Jota 3's return featuring BNegão!
The words of resistance, spirituality, freedom and self-knowledge by reggaeman Jota 3 are in the air. He is back - and very well accompanied - by BNegão. After an intense season with the tour of the “Inna Positive” project (led by one of the most respected sound systems in Brazil, Digitaldubs from Rio), Jota 3 returns to its fourth album Amplificado por Digitaldubs (2016), with the release of the clip “Flores e Ervas”. The idea for the clip came up in January 2017, while I was participating in a summer season with Digitaldubs at skateboarder Bob Burnquist's house in Barra da Tijuca (RJ)” - says Jota 3, who decided to record right in the neighborhood of the famous Brazilian skateboarding champion. The adventure of Jota 3 and his musical partners aboard the Babylonian jungle was also recorded in another secret location outside Brazil. The video is an ode to the right to plant flowers and herbs in the backyard. A hymn to the libertarian gardeners of ancestral culture. And also a warning for the legalization of medicinal cannabis.
The track's producer Marcus MPC (aka Digitaldubs) also appears on this wild adventure, as does Digitaldubs MC Jeru Banto. The track's sound follows the Digitaldubs aesthetic, with the heavy dub bassline and digital programming combined with nyahbinghi percussion and brass. Singing and writing have always been a process of healing and discovery for me. And my greatest cause became to dedicate my life to helping people evolve intellectually, spiritually and morally through music, in the same way I was and am helped by it”- says the artist-activist. And following the tradition of Jamaican music, the 7” compact vinyl of this track was also released, which has a B-side in an instrumental version - and exclusive - for all sound systems to play and improvise their rhymes.
