Doumbia Moussa Fakoly, better known by his stage name Tiken Jah Fakoly (Odienné, June 23, 1968) is a contemporary reggae singer from Côte d'Ivoire, currently residing in Mali. He makes modern reggae, with quality horns and backing vocals completing a band of 10 musicians. Tiken Jah Fakoly sings a mix of local dialects with French and English, and makes music "to awaken consciences", speaking of African social and political problems, openly denouncing injustices, generating great identification with the oppressed layers of various African peoples.
Tiken Jah Fakoly is currently exiled due to xenophobia and political instability in Côte d'Ivoire, residing in Bamako, Mali. Because of his statements during shows he performed in Senegal, he was declared "persona non grata" and banned from returning to that country.
